PmpnBenz -> Hydro' s on a benz? (10/6/2003 7:10:02 PM)

I own a 1998 mercedes benz c320 and im really interested in hydrolics and i was wondering if its possible to put them on a benz, i dont wanna use it for hoppin too much so i wont wreck the car but just to do like 3 wheelers and lower, raise etc. so is it possilbe and is it recommended? and if it is how much would it cost[:)]

It is always possible to put them on. Is it recomended? Ask a Benz dealer LOL. Ask me....Yes!

It is gonna vary on cost. It depends on where you are and what kit you buy and who does the install. I would bag a benz myself, just to keep a little better ride quality. You could run accumulators on the hydro' s, but the threat of a leak messing up a benz would just scare me too much. And 3 wheels do hurt a vehicle, they bend frames, ie. the potato chip frames.

Aight thanks alot.

But im wondering are bags better and more reliable then hydros? say in my case i have a benz and i woudlnt wanna wreck the car but i heard theres a possibility the bags could break easily and if i decide to get hydros would the ride quality be that much worse like i dont know too much about the mechanism of em and what can go wrong and stuff so if you can just help me out.

There is always the chance of break downs on either system. In this day and age both are pretty realible. But the benefit is no mess with bags. Everyone I know with bags says the ride is great. Now my truck on dro' s is stiff enough to rattle out your teeth. But on the same note guys I know with accumulator' s on dro' s say they ride better then factory caddilac' s(sp?). Bags or hydro' s for you should be decided by what fits your driving style best. And how you want to install it.
If you want a system that is visible then maybe hydro' s. I personally like to see hydro' s on vehicles, I like the looks of all the plumbing and pumps. If you want to keep it hidden then maybe bags, since you really won' t be doing a trick notch set-up with them you really don' t have to know they are there. So you could hide alot of the stuff under the car.

I simply like the sound of highly compressed air over the sound of juice. With bags, you can also use a shock setup to help with the ride control a bit. The main difference is two things in my mind. The first is looks - like gt said - juice looks cool but I have seen some tricked out bag setup. The second is ride. Juice is stiff, and even with the best stuff (which is expensive) it is still a solid rod. Bags have air in the them - more air - harder ride, less air - softer ride. Plus, you can add shocks for more ride control.

Also, I think about this too. Look at a semi truck - they have used air springs (bags) for years on the suspension of trucks. However, they use hydraulic rams for lifting the cab for access to the engine. The difference - ride vs. show & functionality.

I still think bags sound better. Nothing like hearing the air dump out.

Our crazy admin and his " PSSST" LOL[8D]

Yeah I have seen crazy bag set-ups. If you are really having trouble deciding then try to find one of each and go for a ride in them. Or ask to play with the switches and check out the installs. That is gonna be the best way to decide.
